An East Texas native I was born in Henderson, Texas and grew up in the small neighboring town of Tatum, Texas.
Upon graduating Tatum High School in 1972, I attended Texas A&M University and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
I spent the next ten years teaching elementary, middle and high school grades at Tatum ISD and attended Stephen F. Austin State University for my Master's of Education.
In 1987, I moved to Austin, Texas where I served as an assistant principal, executive director for elementary instruction and assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Del Valle ISD over the next 24 years.
From 2011 to February 2015, I taught education classes at Texas State University, served as a consultant for Region XII Service Center and worked as an independent consultant for several school districts for various issues.
Since March 2015, I have served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Nacogdoches ISD.
I am happily married and have two wonderful children, Kristen Kristynik and Reagan Dowdy. I have three granddaughters, Kendyl age 9, Camdyn age 5, and Kate age 1.
I am proud to say I have returned to my beloved East Texas and live in the historical town Nacogdoches!
