Nacogdoches High School Summer School will take place June 11 through June 29 this year. The NHS summer school/credit recovery program for grades 9-12 provides opportunities for NISD students to take courses for initial or repeat credit. All courses offered depend upon student requests, teacher availability, and funding.

First-graders at Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary clapped loudly on Thursday and lined the hallway surrounding teacher Kylie Altier’s classroom. It was a big occasion, after all. When Altier came into the hall to see what the fuss was, she learned she had been named Nacogdoches ISD’s Elementary Teacher of the Year. Altier was BQJ’s Teacher of the Year for 2018 before being selected for the district honor.

Pablo, a Belgian Malinois dog, has joined the Nacogdoches Independent School District police force. Two-year-old Pablo is trained as a dual purpose police dog — for narcotics detection and handler protection. The dog is also trained to passive alert on five odors.
