Packets of paper learning resources

Beginning Monday, April 6, Nacogdoches ISD campuses are revising the process of distributing paper education resources packets for NISD students that cannot access the resources on the Internet. Plans also include procedures for returning the packets to the campuses.

Parents and students picking up or returning packets should observe social distancing requirements (no closer than six feet) at all times, and groups should be limited to no more than 10 people. Documents for distribution will sit untouched before being made available to students and parents for pickup. A similar procedure will be followed with documents returned to the school.

Processes outlined below will continue through at least Friday, May 1, as outlined in the executive order by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

NACOGDOCHES HIGH SCHOOL:

Paper Copy Pick-up Procedures:

·         New material for each week will be available starting at 8am each Monday.

·         Packets should be picked up by Wednesday at the latest so students can turn in their work before new material is assigned.

·         Parents, if you are not bringing your student with you, please make sure to have a copy of your student’s schedule and teacher’s name so you can check off each class as you go.

·         If your student does not know their schedule, please email your child’s grade level counselor to request their schedule and they will email it back to you. A list of counselors by grade and their emails is available below.

·         Paper copies will be located in the breezeway in front of the main entrance of the school.

·         There will be Newspaper Stands with subject labels to collect the work for your student in that subject.

·         In each Newspaper Stand, there are paper trays that will be labeled by course with the work needed.

·         Please only take one handout per class and close the Newspaper Stand after taking what you need

·         Once you have all the handouts you need, please leave the area to protect yourself and others around you.

Safety Procedures:

·         Parents/students do not have to come at 8 a.m. on Monday. Packets will be available for pick-up throughout the day and week.

·         Please practice social distancing and keep space between you and any other parents/students while you are picking up paper copies.

·         If you have gloves and masks to wear, please use them.

·         Hand sanitizer will be available on round tables on both sides of the breezeway for use.

·         Upon arrival, if there are a lot of cars parked and people picking up paper copies, please plan to pick up the work later in the day or week.

Paper Copy Turn-in Procedures

·         If possible, take a picture of the handout and email it to your teacher. That is the best way to turn in a paper copy.

·         In the same breezeway where you picked up work for the week, there will be plastic see-through storage drawers labeled for each subject.

·         If you have work from the first two weeks of digital learning, begin turning those items in.

·         Make sure to turn in the week’s work by Friday evening since work that has been turned in will be collected during the weekend.

·         Once storage drawers are collected during the weekend, they will be placed in the main commons of NHS and remain untouched for at least 24 hours.

·         Work turned in will be sorted starting Monday or Tuesday morning to be given to teachers for grading. The emptied turn-in storage drawers will then be placed back outside on Tuesday morning.

·         If you are unable to return the work by Friday, turn in the work the following week starting on Tuesday.

·         On all work turned in, make sure to include the student’s name and the teacher’s name on the handout.

·         Open the drawer with the correct subject and place the completed handout in the drawer.

·         Please make sure to close the drawer after turning in work.

·         Only turn in work that applies to that subject.

·         Do not turn in all handouts in the same drawer.
