Chief Sandra Murray
Chief Sandra Murray is a native of Nacogdoches County. She enlisted in the United States Air Force and served her country in locations from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Anchorage, Alaska. The last seven years of her career was spent working for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) a Department of Defense Combat Support Agency. DIA is a major producer and manager of foreign military intelligence. Via the agency's Defense Intelligence Network (DIN), Officer Murray gathered, produced and directed sensitive information for global dissemination to defense policymakers and force planners in support of U. S. military planning and operations. DIA is headquartered at the Pentagon in Washington D. C.
Chief Murray honorably retired from the United States Air Force in December 1999, and began a civilian career as a Senior Consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, a technology and management consulting firm in McLean, Virginia. After the tragedies of 9/11, she made the decision to return home to Texas in December of 2001.
In March 2002, Chief Murray began working as a Telecommunications Operator for the Nacogdoches Police Department (NPD). In January 2005, she resigned from NPD to attend the Angelina College Police Academy. After obtaining her Peace Officer License, she became an NPD patrol officer. Chief Murray is a certified Telecommunications Operator, Field Training Officer and Crisis Negotiator and is a recent graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT).
Chief Murray joined the Nacogdoches ISD Police Department in February 2009 and spent the next seven years as the Nacogdoches High School Campus Officer. She was appointed Chief of the Nacogdoches ISD Police Department in February 2016. Her office is located at McMichael Middle School. She enjoys spending time with her family, being active in her church, reading and traveling.
