Trunk-or-Treat goes on at TJR

Trunk or Treat looked different today at Thomas J. Rusk Elementary, but the show went on without a hitch.

Because of restrictions brought on by COVID-19, the annual Halloween celebration on campus was missing the parents and community partners who normally help out. Instead, NISD staff filled in, decorating the trunks and tailgates of their vehicles and distributing candy and prizes to TJR students.

It all took place in a socially-distanced method, too. The campus provided latex gloves and the candy for their helpers, and everyone had their masks and face-coverings in place. NISD staff coming on campus also completed the district health assessment before arriving.

Cars and trucks were in place behind the TJR building around 10:45 a.m., and for the next couple of hours, student groups, by classroom, walked through the treat zone.
