Black History programs set at NISD campuses

Nacogdoches ISD campuses will be holding special programs in February for Black History Month.

At Nacogdoches High School, the Students of Color organization will present its annual Black History Month program at 7 p.m., Feb. 21, in the NHS auditorium. This year’s celebration is titled, “Stepping Through the Decades: A Musical Tribute.”

Other programs scheduled in February will take place at: Raguet Elementary, 1:45 p.m., Feb. 19; Thomas J. Rusk, 1:30 p.m., Feb. 20; and Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary, 9 a.m., Feb. 28.

During February, guest speakers will visit Nettie Marshall Academy of Dual Language to read to students. Nettie Marshall is also holding a friendship dance Feb. 20 with a theme of “Harlem Renaissance.” Art displays will be featured throughout the campus.

McMichael Middle School will host a Culture Expo presented by the Community Improvement Program, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22.

Emeline Carpenter Elementary will hold a program at 9 a.m. on Feb. 28 in the cafeteria.
