NHS cross country teams head for regionals

The varsity boys and girls cross country teams from Nacogdoches High School finished second last week at the district meet and qualified for the Class 5A Regional Meet, which will be held Monday in Dallas.

Three NHS runners finished in the boys individual top ten at the district meet held Oct. 17 in Jacksonville. Ernesto Garcia was second overall, while Jose Rameriz was fourth and Eduardo Vazquez placed 10th.

Other members of the varsity boys team are Cande Landeros, David Mejorado, Ivn Acosta and Joey Corning.

Kelsey Villatoro finished third overall in the girls race. Other members of the NHS varsity girls team are Samantha Fields, Alayna Pina, Zarreah Tilley, Clemmie Brewer, Lesly Vega and Abigail Madera.

The regional meet will take place Monday, Oct. 28, at Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas.

The junior varsity girls team also finished second in its division. Team members include Yazmine Hernandez, Ashley Vega, Tanya Garcia, Giselle Alonso-Islas, Leslie Hernandez, Guadalupe Garcia, Idalia Limon and Lorianna Pina.

The junior varsity boys team was third in its division. Team members include Allen Guardado, Pedro Herrera, Alex Taaffe, Gustavo Castro, Christian Castro and Isai Vega.
