Nacogdoches High School’s One-Act Play traveled well.

The production of “The Bald Soprano” captured two All-Star Cast awards last week in Texarkana at the bi-district competition. The Dragons also received an honorable mention All-Star Cast, a Tech award and Honor Crew designation and finished in third place overall, earning designation as the first alternate advancing play.

“Our One-Act Play students put so much work into this effort and commit so much of themselves to its success,” said Victoria Perry, NHS Theatre teacher. “I’m so grateful for their dedication, and I’m ecstatic their hard work and talent were recognized at the district and bi-district competitions.”

All-Star Cast honors went to freshman Brianna Hightower and sophomore Mae Johnston. Freshman Mars McIntosh earned honorable mention. Senior Emmanuel Gomez received the Tech award.

The third place finish at bi-district followed an outstanding performance at the district competition held before spring break.

“The Bald Soprano,” considered an important work in the theatre of the absurd, was directed by Perry and Amanda Heron.
