NISD board returning to in-person meetings

Beginning with its June 14 agenda review, Nacogdoches ISD Board of Trustees will move to a hybrid meeting that will incorporate in-person and virtual participation.

Meetings will be held at the E.J. Campbell building – formerly the District Support Center – at 420 S. Shawnee St. The meeting will also be streamed via Zoom, a video conferencing app.

The first meeting to be held using this format will be at noon, Monday, June 14. The agenda review meeting is held monthly ahead of the regular meeting, which will take place at 5 p.m., Thursday, June 17.

Capacity of the board meeting room at the E.J. Campbell building will be capped at 50 percent, which should leave seating for around 45 people in the audience.

NISD will provide connection information using the Zoom app for those wishing to attend the meetings virtually.

Anyone wishing to address the board during public comment portions of the meeting will be required to file a request no later than one hour before the meeting’s start time. Those requests can be submitted by email at [email protected] or in person at the District Support Center, 4632 NE Stallings Dr., Nacogdoches, TX 75965.

“The occurrence of COVID-19 in Nacogdoches County is extremely low right now,” said NISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Trujillo. “The board is ready to begin moving back to holding meetings face-to-face with the public.

“Precautions will still be taken, with seating spread out in the room. And while there is no mandate in place for face coverings, the district certainly encourages anyone wishing to wear a mask to do so while attending the meetings.”
