Repairs on the playing surface and track at Dragon Stadium are progressing.
In May, the eight-year-old artificial turf field was damaged by heavy rains that caused flooding in Nacogdoches.
During a special meeting held that month, NISD trustees approved the work at Dragon Stadium. Hellas Construction repaired damage to the base of the field and is now installing a new artificial turf surface. The track surrounding the field has been resurfaced and is awaiting striping. The track at McMichael Middle School has also been resurfaced.
Other work at Dragon Stadium related to the 2018 bond has been completed. The interior of the press box on the home side of the stadium was renovated, and a second press box will be installed on the east side of the stadium for use by visiting coaches. The parking lot located on the home side of the stadium was resurfaced.
