It’s 13 straight for McMichael Middle School’s MathCounts team.
Benjamin Serna, Benjamin Grabowski, Ashton Milstead and Lyle French took first place in February at the chapter competition. Benjamin Grabowski finished second overall, and Ashton was third place in the countdown round. McMichael teacher Brittany Combs is in her first year as coach of the team.
Those 13 state qualifications are also how long a MathCounts team has existed within Nacogdoches ISD. The team started out at Mike Moses Middle School then moved to McMichael when the two campuses were combined in 2022.
