French horn player performs during Christmas concert

Bands from Nacogdoches High School and McMichael Middle School rang in the holiday season Monday with “The Sounds of Christmas,” a combined concert at the NHS gymnasium.

With a packed house looking on, the bands performed seasonal favorites, beginning with the sixth-grade band all the way up to the grand finale that included all NISD bands.

During Monday’s concert, the sixth-grade band from McMichael performed “Ode to Joy,” “Jingle Bells” and “Bad Elf.”

Seventh-graders followed with “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” and “A Festive Fanfare.”

Eighth-graders performed “Ukrainian Bell Carol” and “The Polar Express.”

The NHS Concert Band performed “Let the Light of Christmas Shine” and “Christmas Overture.” The high school’s Symphonic Band performed “A Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride.”

The high school and middle school bands then combined on “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “The First Noel” before the big finish with “Deck the Halls.”
