It was another big weekend for Nacogdoches High School at the regional swimming and diving competition in New Caney. Eight Dragons earned berths in the state meet that will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21, in Austin.
Qualifiers are: Livia Whitaker in the 100 yard fly and 100 backstroke, Grant Copen in the 200 intermediate and 100 breaststroke, the girls 200 medley relay (Jocelyne Lopez, Kyra Blackmon, Livia and Devyn Whitaker) and the boys 200 medley relay (James Wright, Grant, Cy Scroggins and Owen Allen).
The Class 5A/6A state championship will be held at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Class 5A preliminaries will be the morning of Feb. 20, and the finals will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.
