Nacogdoches ISD fine arts program will be on display Saturday, April 11, providing a chance for parents and the community to see the wide range of offerings available for students ranging from Pre-K to high school.

The fine arts showcase is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at Nacogdoches High School. All visual, performance, music and theater arts will be on display. Visual arts projects will be available for viewing in the NHS main commons. Performances of band, choir, dance and theater will take place in the NHS auditorium.

Quality visual art instruction is provided for our students from Pre-K through 12th grade levels. General courses are taught on the Pre-K/elementary and middle school campuses which lead to more specialized offerings such as ceramics, sculpture, and more in high school.

Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative (Partnership)

NISD Fine Arts has partnered with the Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative through the Better Together initiative to strengthen and celebrate the arts within our community. Founded in 2019, the Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative is dedicated to expanding access to diverse artistic opportunities and supporting local artists across disciplines such as visual art, music, writing, and performance. Together, this partnership helps foster creativity, provide meaningful experiences for students, and promote a vibrant, inclusive arts culture throughout Nacogdoches. *Founder: CC Conn (Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative)

Elementary Music 10 a.m.

The Elementary Honor Choir consists of general music students from each of the district’s elementary campuses, providing an opportunity for students to come together and collaborate in making beautiful music. General music courses are provided to all students at the Pre-K/elementary levels which then leads to more specialized offerings such as band and choir on secondary campuses.

SFA Music Preparatory Division (Partnership) 10:30 a.m.

The Stephen F. Austin State University Preparatory Division has a rich history of offering instructions to children and adults within the Nacogdoches community. Its mission is to provide an accessible and inclusive community center of music education that fosters the creative growth of individuals, inspires passion and creativity, and promotes excellence and well-being in our greater community. The Prep School has partnered with NISD to offer teacher-selected fourth- and fifth-grade students after-school string lessons.

Choir Department: 11 a.m.

With an emphasis on school pride and unity, NISD Choirs are built on developing choral skills, student leadership, teamwork, communication, independence, and dedication. The main objective for all members of the choir program is the discovery of music and vocal techniques through preparation and performance of quality choral literature. Choral courses are offered from sixth- to 12th-grade.

Dance Department 11:30 a.m.

The dance program aims to not only provide students with dance, choreography, and performance skills, but to educate everyone to become self-motivated, competent, and life-long learners equipped for the challenges of a competitive, diverse, and ever-changing society. Dance courses and organizations are offered at secondary level.

Theatre Department Noon

The Theatre program introduces students to all aspects of the theatre by providing a strong foundation of historical and dramatic literature, acting, technical/production areas and design. Theatre courses are available from the sixth- through 12th-grade.

Band Department 12:30 p.m.

The Band program begins in the sixth-grade with an introduction of instrumental music fundamentals and continues through the 12th-grade concluding with a full curriculum of concert and marching instruction.
