Nacogdoches High School’s Golden Dragon Marching Band received another First Division rating at the Region 21 contest Saturday at Lobo Stadium in Longview, earning 1s from all three judges. Results from Saturday’s contest extended the band’s run of top ratings to 42 since 1980.
The NHS band will join with the McMichael Middle School band for a combined performance during halftime of Friday’s game at Dragon Stadium against Texas High. Friday is also the band barbecue fundraiser.

Dear Nacogdoches High School parents,
Nacogdoches High School vastly underestimated student interest this year in our homecoming dance that’s being held Saturday, and we’re terribly sorry for that. So we’re making changes in plans that will now allow additional students to buy tickets to the dance.
First, any student who was on the initial waitlist Tuesday for the dance has already been allowed to buy a ticket. NHS is also making 200 additional tickets available for purchase. Those tickets will be sold beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday morning (Sept. 22) in the NHS auditorium on a first-come-first serve basis. Tickets are $20 each and cash only. Students will be able to purchase a maximum of two (2) tickets to the dance. (If their date is from outside the district, the students need to have the required paperwork ready at time of purchase.) If you have questions, please call the high school at (936) 564-2466.
We’re grateful so many students are wishing to participate in homecoming, and we will take this year’s level of interest into consideration when it’s time to sell homecoming tickets in the future.
Sincerely,
Stephen Autrey
NHS Principal
