The Nacogdoches High School Theatre Department is set to share the tale Dec. 2-3 of the fictional Turpin family.

“Dearly Departed” is the comedic story of all the living and dying that takes place in the South. The Nacogdoches High School Theatre Department production will be on stage Thursday, Dec. 2, and Friday, Dec. 3, in the NHS auditorium. The house opens at 6:30 p.m. both nights, and the curtain goes up at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

It’s a time of need for the Turpins, we’ll learn. Following the death of their patriarch, the family’s collective problems continue overshadowing the solemn occasion at hand.

Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits themselves who just manage to pull it all together and help each other through their hours of need, up to and including the funeral.

The cast and crew include five seniors that have participated in several NHS productions: Johnny Bean, Michelle Coffee, Mackenzie Taylor, Emma Milstead, and Karrigan Fields. The performance is directed by Victoria Perry, and Amanda Heron is the tech director.
