The recent release of the 2020 census data requires Nacogdoches Independent School District to determine whether it is necessary to "redistrict" each of the trustee single-member districts to ensure that they contain a substantially equal population.
The District has received a report on the population growth in each of the trustee districts, and it appears that there is an imbalance in the population. Thus, the Board must undertake efforts to adjust the boundaries of the trustee districts to bring the relative populations into appropriate balance. This project must be undertaken this year so that the trustee districts will be clearly defined prior to the 2022 general election.
The adjustments to the trustee boundaries are solely for electoral purposes. Any realignment of trustee boundaries will not affect attendance zones or other aspects of school district operations.
On October 21, 2021, the Board approved resolutions adopting criteria and guidelines to be used in the redistricting process. The establishment of districting criteria will facilitate drawing and ensure that drawing occurs in an objective and fair manner. Those guidelines as well as proposed maps are listed below and can be accessed through links within the text.
The Board welcomes public input related to this effort. The public can participate by contacting your Trustee and by attending the December 9, 2021, Board Meeting.

La reciente publicación de los datos del censo de 2020 requiere que el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Nacogdoches determine si es necesario "redistribuir" las áreas distritales de cada miembro del consejo para garantizar que contengan una población sustancialmente igual.

According to the 2020 Census data, the District’s trustee districts are not of sufficiently equal population and must be redrawn in order to comply with the “one-person, one-vote” (equal population) principle established by the U.S. Constitution.

The preliminary plan for the trustee districts will be available at the hearing and is available for public inspection during normal business hours at District Support Center, 4632 NE Stallings Drive, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965 Monday through Friday from now until the date of the public hearing.
A copy of the plan can also be found here. In addition, you need to be aware that the Board of Trustees has adopted Guidelines for public participation. The Guidelines, among other things, require that comments be submitted in writing even if you make them orally at the hearing; all written comments are due by the close of the hearing. The Guidelines may be found here. Any plans that are proposed must conform to the redistricting criteria adopted by the Board of Trustees. The Criteria are found here.
