Mission

The mission of the Nacogdoches ISD Police Department is to maintain a safe environment in which staff can inspire, teachers can teach, and students can realize their hopes and dreams. We will accomplish this by staying vigilant, proactive, approachable and compassionate.

Integrity, professionalism and commitment are the values we pursue.

Department

The Nacogdoches ISD Police Department (NISD PD) is a fully authorized agency that was formed by a resolution passed by the Board of Trustees in September 1993. It received its authority from the Texas Education Code. All NISD police officers are commissioned by the State of Texas will all legal power and authority granted to them under the laws of the State of Texas. NISD police officers have jurisdiction throughout the school district which covers approximately 262.5 square miles.

The department has a Memorandum of Understanding which allows it to work closely with the Nacogdoches Police Department and the Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Office on cases occurring in overlapping jurisdictions.

NISD PD is currently comprised of a police chief, a police sergeant, six police officers, a K9 officer, an administrative assistant/telecommunicator and two civilian truancy officers.  Police Headquarters is located at 906 N. Mound St.

We have three police officers housed at Nacogdoches High School, an officer at Malcolm Rector THS, an officer at Mike Moses Middle School and an officer at McMichael Middle School. In the fall of 2020, we will have an officer solely dedicated to the elementary schools.

Our officers are fully immersed in their assigned campuses. In addition to maintaining law and order, they build rapport with students and offer guidance in an effort to deter criminal behavior. We are available to talk to parents/guardians who may have concerns about their student.

The department also manages the District’s Emergency Operations Plan. This duty consists of training staff/students on evacuation drills, lockdown procedures, and various other emergency-related procedures.
