Nacogdoches High School converted its Academic UIL district championship last month into berths in the state competition that took place last week.
The Journalism Team finished third overall at regionals. DeLayna Adams won first place in Headline Writing to qualify for state; Mark Sifuentes was fourth in News Writing and is an alternate for state. DeLayna then finished third at state.
The NHS Current Events team won first place overall at the regional competition, qualifying for state. Current Events includes Vivyan Nieberding, Justin Phillips, Mel Chandler-Ezell and Charlie Hodge.
The NHS CX Debate team of Whitley Howell and David Taravella also qualified for the state competition earlier this spring.
