Mark Ampofo (right) is Nacogdoches ISD’s Secondary Teacher of the Year, and Jack Adams IV is the Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Ampofo and Adams were announced as district teachers of the year during Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting.
Ampofo teaches math at Nacogdoches High School where students in grades 10-12 take his Algebra 2 class. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Ampofo has been with the District since 2020. Known for his focus on problem-solving, Ampofo also supports students through Saturday School instruction and Algebra 1 remediation. He also served as a mentor teacher and participated in the 2024 Teacher Externship Program.
Adams is a fourth-grade math and science teacher at Raguet Elementary. Adams is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and is known for creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
He has been named Teacher of the Year in his first full year with Raguet.

Rusk Elementary; Theodore Baldwin at McMichael Middle School; Ashley Higgins at Margie Chumbley Academy for Success; and Dena Cox at DAEP.
