Adams named principal at Margie Chumbley Academy for Success

James Adams has been named principal of Margie Chumbley Academy for Success for the upcoming school year. The school serves as Nacogdoches ISD’s alternative high school and also hosts the county’s District Alternative Educational Program, or DAEP.

Superintendent Grey Burton announced the appointment July 16.

“I worked with Mr. Adams in the past and I know he is an excellent educator and administrator,” Burton said. “He has been an asset to our district for many years and this role will allow us to utilize his talents to a greater degree. He understands the importance of our program at Margie Chumbley and will do a great job leading that campus.”

Adams started with the district in 2004 and has been both a teacher and campus administrator for Nacogdoches ISD, most recently serving as an assistant principal at Nacogdoches High School.

The appointment of Adams fills a vacancy created when Roxanne Lathan retired in February as principal at Margie Chumbley. Tena Hill led the campus in an interim role for the remainder of the academic year and will remain at the campus as assistant principal.
