The updated playground at Raguet Elementary is now open for business.
The official unveiling took place Tuesday, Oct. 28, during a ribbon cutting ceremony held on the playground located behind the campus. Superintendent Grey Burton was on hand to welcome students and staff, and Principal Julia Wells cut the ribbon.
Raguet students – those who had at least 98 percent attendance rate for a three-week period – were the first to try out the new equipment. It received an enthusiastic response.
Nacogdoches ISD trustees approved the purchase and installation of the new equipment in April at a cost of $402,193. Work began towards the end of September.
The old equipment – which was roughly 20 years old – and borders were removed before the installation. New wood chips – for soft landings – surround the new equipment.
