Three Nacogdoches High School swimmers and three NHS relay teams – including a school-record performance by the girls 200 medley relay – placed in the top three at the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association Northeast meet in Texarkana on Nov. 21-22.
Grant Copen finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke, Devyn Whitaker was third in the 100 freestyle and Livia Whitaker was first in the 100 fly and third in the 100 backstroke.
The girls 200 medley relay (Jocelyn Lopez, Kyra Blackmon, Livia Whitaker and Devyn Whitaker) finished second while setting a new school record. The boys 200 medley relay (James Wright, Copen, Cy Scroggins and Owen Allen) finished second, and the girls 400 freestyle relay (Madeline Richey, Blackmon, Lopez and Pepper Hill) finished third.
The Lady Dragons placed third overall against teams from Texas High, Mount Pleasant, Lufkin, Richardson, Longview and Klein.
