Dragonettes on stage during Christmas performance

The Christmas season is upon us, and Nacogdoches ISD campuses and fine arts programs will be holding special events over the next three weeks.

The Dragonette Christmas show, “Christmas Movie Magic,” will be held over two nights: at 7 p.m., Dec. 4, and Dec. 5, in the Nacogdoches High School auditorium. Tickets are $5 and are sold at the door (cash or card accepted). “Christmas Movie Magic” will include performances from all the favorite Christmas movies and will also feature NHS cheerleaders and twirlers.

A public performance by McMichael Middle School’s One-Act Play, “The Girl Who Was Asked to Turn Blue,” will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, at McMichael Middle School. Entry is $1.

The Christmas choir concert – and it also includes both middle school and high school students – will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9, at First United Methodist Church in Nacogdoches.

Thomas J. Rusk Elementary's kindergarten and fifth grade will perform "Snow Way Out – Winter's Wonderland" at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9 in the school's auditorium.

Raguet Elementary choir will be making its annual trip to Nacogdoches Rotary Club on Dec. 10, a tradition dates all the way back to 1944.

McMichael Middle Schools Dance Programs Winter Show will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at the NHS auditorium. McMichael Middle School choir and cheer squad are special guests.

The Christmas band concert that includes both middle school and high school bands will be at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 15, in the competition gym at Nacogdoches High School. (I’ll never cease to be amazed how good a sixth-grade band can sound by Christmas!).

A Christmas program will be held 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Fredonia Early Childhood Center.
