Nacogdoches ISD has canceled classes on Monday, Jan. 26, and will be closed for students and staff because of hazardous travel conditions expected to develop from the winter storm forecasted for this weekend. All after-school activities are also canceled for Monday.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we’re making this call a couple days early to provide parents with the opportunity to make any necessary arrangements for Monday,” NISD Superintendent Grey Burton said. “The forecast of freezing rain and sleet combined with bitterly cold temperatures is expected to make travel difficult.”
NISD will make an announcement later in the day on Monday on plans for holding school Tuesday, Jan. 27. Updates for Tuesday will be communicated to parents by phone, email and text, as well as on the district’s website and app, and on Facebook.
