Nacogdoches High School’s Daniel Nguyen, Nivaeh Perez, Juan Ocon, Katelyn Rocha and Catherine Wanack competed last week at the DECA state qualifiers competition in Dallas.
Nacogdoches High School earned a Texas Two-Step recognition for collaboration with other district chapters and has been invited to the DECA Career Development Conference later this year in Atlanta, Ga. Kate Basa, the DECA president at NHS, was also invited to attend ICDC’s Aspire Academy.
The students participated in their respective role-play and prepared presentation categories in Dallas as well as the required on-site testing.
The two-step recognition was earned because of collaboration with other district chapters, NHS DECA adviser Anna-Lisa Wanack said.
“We’re proud of their efforts to place at the district level competition and to be selected to participate and compete at this year’s state events,” said Wanack.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in high school for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
