Tammara Marion

Tammara Marion has been named Head Girls Basketball Coach for Nacogdoches High School after serving four years as an assistant with the Lady Dragons.

Marion has 11 years of coaching experience, including as head coach and athletic coordinator at Madison High School. She also had assistant coaching roles at Aldine Nimitz and Cleveland High Schools.

The Houston native and former Stephen F. Austin State University basketball player has bachelor and master degrees in kinesiology from SFA.

Marion also still holds career and single season records for the women’s basketball team at SFA. Maron’s 90 three-pointers made in 2011-12 remains the most for one season, and her 263 three-pointers tops the career list (her career three-point percentage of 38.7 percent ranks second overall). Marion posted an SFA-best free throw percentage of 84.4 percent over her four seasons.

Marion is following Harold Scroggins, who stepped down last month as head girls basketball coach at NHS. Scroggins, who picked up his 200th career win during the season, will remain with the district.
