Nacogdoches High School's girls track team swept to another district championship last week in Hallsville, totaling 156 points to easily outdistance the host team.
Up next is the area track and field meet on Friday in Mount Pleasant featuring qualifiers from District 9-5A and 10-5A.
The Lady Dragons won four individual district titles in Hallsville. Cailyn Williams won the 100-meter hurdles and the girls high jump. Mia Weems won pole vault, and Jayla Garrett brought home a district championship in shot put.
Other Lady Dragons advancing to the area track and field meet include, Eryka Green in the 100 dash and long jump, Avery Hardcastle and Mia Perez, who finished second and third, respectively, in both the 1600 and 3200 runs and third and fourth in the 800, and Ella Guenther-Scott and Kandace Jenkins in the 300 hurdles.
All three relay teams qualified for the area meet. The 4x100 relay (Ke’Asia Griffin, Ja’Riah Sutton, JaRiyah King and Eryka Green) set a school record for the third time this spring. The 4x200 relay (Griffin, Green, Sutton and King) also set a school record to advance. The 4x400 relay is made up of Rhianna Johnson, King, Jessica Gilder and Guenther-Scott.
Other Dragons advancing to the area meet include King in the triple jump and Abigail Cotten in pole vault.
