Heather Theiss named principal at Raguet

Heather Theiss will be the next principal at Raguet Elementary School. She will replace Julia Wells, who is retiring after serving the last 12 years as principal at Raguet.

During Tuesday’s special meeting, Nacogdoches ISD trustees unanimously approved Superintendent Grey Burton’s recommendation to name Theiss principal.

“As an assistant principal at McMichael Middle School, Ms. Theiss has played a vital role in the success at that campus,” Burton said. “She has thrived as an instructional leader and her positivity is contagious. Ms. Theiss is committed to NISD and our students, and I have no doubt that many of those same qualities she’s used at McMichael will serve her well at Raguet.”

The official start date at Raguet for Theiss will be July 1, but she will begin the transition process once the academic year ends May 22.

For the past two years, Theiss has served as Associate Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at McMichael Middle School and has been an administrator on the campus since August of 2021.

Before that, Theiss was an Advanced Language Arts Teacher and Gifted and Talented Coordinator at Mike Moses while it was still a middle school campus. Theiss was an English/Language Arts interventionist at Raguet Elementary, and she has also served as an English and Social Studies teacher for Nacogdoches ISD and Northwest ISD near Fort Worth.

Theiss is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and has a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
