Senior Micah Lockett will defend his Class 5A state high jump championship at 9 a.m. Friday at Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
Lockett cleared 7-feet at last year’s state meet and holds a number of Nacogdoches High School records in the high jump and as a receiver on the Dragons’ football team.
Joining Lockett in Austin for the State Track and Field Meet is sophomore Braylon Horton, who qualified in two events: the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Horton is also a school record holder.
Horton will run in the 110 hurdles at 5:45 p.m. on Friday and in the 300 hurdles at 7:35 p.m.
