James Adams named Assistant Superintendent of Operations at NISD

James Adams has been named Assistant Superintendent of Operations for Nacogdoches ISD, stepping into a role at the District Support Center that will oversee facilities, transportation, safety and security, discipline, and truancy.

For the past year, Adams has been principal of Margie Chumbley Academy for Success, which serves as NISD’s alternative high school and also hosts the county’s District Alternative Educational Program, or DAEP.

“I’ve worked with Mr. Adams over the years, and he has proven to be a successful and effective administrator,” said NISD Superintendent Grey Burton. “Mr. Adams has done a great job the past year in his return to the Margie Chumbley campus, and he will prove to be a great addition to our district administrative team.”

Adams first came to the district in 1998 in the transportation department. In 2004, he moved to Emeline Carpenter Elementary. He’s been a teacher, coach and campus administrator for NISD. The Jasper native is a 2006 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. He obtained a Master of Education degree from SFA in 2010.

“I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to getting started right away,” said Adams. “We’re blessed with talented students and outstanding staff here at Nacogdoches ISD, and I’m looking forward to helping them all.”
