Tena Hill takes over as principal at Margie Chumbley Academy for Success

Tena Hill has been named principal at Margie Chumbley Academy for Success. Hill replaces James Adams who was named Assistant Superintendent of Operations for Nacogdoches ISD.

Hill is beginning her 36th year in education, including the last 16 years with NISD. She has served in a variety of roles for the district, including teacher, assistant principal and interim principal. She has been assistant principal at Margie Chumbley the last three years and has been at the campus for 10 years.

Hill is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, earning both bachelors and masters degrees in education. She has two sons, both graduates of Nacogdoches High School.

“I’ve dedicated my career to serving students through strong instructional leadership, relationship-building, and a belief that every child can achieve success when given the opportunity and support to do so,” she said.

NISD Superintendent Grey Burton called Hill a great fit for the campus.

“She’s been there supporting the students and staff at the school,” said Burton. “Ms. Hill has a love and appreciation for the students at Margie Chumbley and will continue the progress already being made there.”

Hill said she’s excited to begin this new chapter as a campus principal at Margie Chumbley.

“I’m honored to continue serving students, staff, and families,” she said. “I believe in leading with integrity, fostering a culture of collaboration and high expectations, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”
