Tammy Pankratz named principal at Mike Moses

Tammy Pankratz will be back on the Mike Moses campus this school year.

The former Nacogdoches ISD administrator has been named principal at Mike Moses Elementary School.

Pankratz has an extensive career history in public education and NISD, including once serving as principal at Mike Moses when it was a middle school. She’s also served as a principal in Mount Enterprise and Tyler ISDs.

“Tammy Pankratz has an extensive background in school and district administration, and I’m excited for her to be back at Mike Moses Elementary,” said NISD Superintendent Grey Burton. “Her expertise and knowledge as an educator will be a benefit to the students and staff at Mike Moses Elementary.”

Pankratz has extensive experience as a district administrator; she was an executive director with NISD and retired as Executive Director for School Administration at Galena Park ISD near Houston. In her role at Galena Park, Pankratz supervised 36 principals overseeing campuses serving students ranging in grades from Pre-K through Early College High School.

“I’m looking forward to working with the faculty and staff at Mike Moses as we challenge and grow our students,” Pankratz said. “We want to involve our parents and create a culture that positively reflects our dedication to children and to their success.”

Pankratz spent 11 years as a classroom teacher before moving into campus and district administration. And she came back to Nacogdoches ISD two years ago in Student Support Services as an ARD facilitator.

The 1983 graduate of Nacogdoches High School also attended NISD campuses Raguet Elementary, Emeline Carpenter (then a middle school) and Thomas J. Rusk.

Pankratz earned a bachelor's degree in communications in 1987. After teaching a couple years as an adjunct faculty member at SFA, Pankratz went on to get a master's in communications and, later on, a master's in education leadership.

Pankratz and her husband, Gary Pankratz (a retired financial planner with Raymond James Financial Inc.), have four grown children who also attended and graduated from Nacogdoches ISD.
