Nacogdoches High School’s Luigy Garcia was in Washington, D.C., last month to be recognized for winning the Texas Congressional District 17 art contest.
Luigy’s work titled “Cowboy” was judged to be the District 17 winner in April following a reception held with Congressman Pete Sessions at Stephen F. Austin State University. The theme of this year’s art competition was “America the Beautiful.”
On June 25, Luigy and his father were in Washington along with Sessions for a reception honoring all the district winners. “Cowboy” will be on display in the Capitol alongside winning entries from congressional districts across the nation.
