Melinda Wiebold named principal at Carpenter

Melinda Wiebold has been named principal at Emeline Carpenter Elementary, marking a return to campus administration after four years as a district-level curriculum coordinator with Nacogdoches ISD.

Wiebold previously served six years as principal at Fredonia Elementary (prior to its conversion to a Pre-K campus), taking the school from a low-performing score to a B rating in Texas Education Agency campus grades.

“I’m thrilled to be back on campus and look forward to a great year at Carpenter,” Wiebold said. “We’ve got a great facility, great staff and students who can do exceptional work, and I’m grateful to be a part of that for the new year.”

Wiebold has accumulated 30 years of experience in public education, all with Nacogdoches ISD. She taught fifth-, seventh- and eighth-grades as well as Algebra 1 for 12 years at Thomas J. Rusk Middle School, McMichael Middle School and Fredonia Elementary. While at McMichael, Wiebold was named a curriculum specialist, where she spent seven years, then later on at Mike Moses Middle School and Raguet Elementary.

“By making this move, Ms. Wiebold provides proven academic leadership experience for Carpenter Elementary,” said NISD Superintendent Grey Burton. “She has been in the trenches and has a firm understanding of what it takes to lead an elementary campus. Ms. Wiebold brings a great deal of experience to Carpenter, and I know this will be a great fit for Nacogdoches ISD.”

Wiebold is a Nacogdoches native. She graduated in 1984 from NHS; her mother is a Dragon graduate as is her oldest daughter. Her youngest daughter is a member of the Class of 2027.
