Mayor Jimmy Mize proclaimed Nov. 28 through Dec. 2 as Start With Hello Week in Nacogdoches during a ceremony held Wednesday at Nacogdoches High School. The Masonry Rocks Regional Showcase will be in Nacogdoches Thursday, Nov. 10. Students from Nacogdoches High School’s Career and Technical Education program – along with other East Texas school districts – will learn the tools of the trade, the resources it takes to make each building product, how to lay brick to the line, mortar mixing, mud spreading and building scaffold. Nacogdoches High School’s Golden Dragon Marching Band received another First Division rating at the Region 21 contest Saturday at Lobo Stadium in Longview, earning 1s from all three judges. Results from Saturday’s contest extended the band’s run of top ratings to 42 since 1980. The NHS band will join with the McMichael Middle School band for a combined performance during halftime of Friday’s game at Dragon Stadium against Texas High. Friday is also the band barbecue fundraiser.
